Grasslands Public Schools is pleased to announce that the Brooks Junior High Replacement School Project has been awarded to Lear Construction Management Ltd. This project, part of the Alberta government’s $8.6 billion investment in school infrastructure, will provide a modern, innovative learning space for junior high students in the Brooks community.
The new school will replace the current Brooks Junior High School, originally built in 1953, and will have an opening capacity of 720 students, with the ability to expand to 820 students for future growth. Designed with bright, open gathering areas, updated Career and Technology Studies (CTS) labs, and flexible learning spaces, the school will foster collaboration, engagement, and hands-on learning opportunities. The project is expected to be completed in time for the 2026-2027 school year.
This investment is part of the 2025 Budget, which includes funding for nine school projects in rural communities and smaller cities across Alberta. Alongside the Brooks Junior High Replacement School, the government has also granted design funding for the modernization of Career and Technology Studies (CTS) spaces at Brooks Composite High School, ensuring students have access to modern, industry-relevant training facilities that support career pathways, trades, and workplace preparation.
